Ranchin' and Rodeoin'
This weekend I tagged a long with the family and went to my brothers ranch rodeo. If you have never been to a ranch rodeo it is nothing like the normal, bulls, broncs, and barrels. Its the mans man of rodeo. Real ranch cowboys the ones who put the beef on your dinner table type.
Now as someone who grew up horse back most rodeos don't fascinate me but when you have family or friends involved it becomes a sport rooting, yelling at the top of your lungs and for me having a death grip on my camera. I can't rope and don't try because I was not blessed with the awesome super power of fantastic hand eye coordination. And yes it is a super power. Just wait till you see the combination of hand eye coordination, and the speed they go. There are wipe outs, wrecks, and lots of laughter.
Enjoy : )
Here they go with the super powers! Running down the pen at full speed rope in hand and dialed in on some yearlings.
This is where my cutting genes just go into overload! Look at this little mare get down and get across that cow! Ok and maybe I'm partial cause that's my brother : )
While the bronc riding is my favorite event, the Wild Cow Milking is like watching a car wreck you can't look away! These guys rope one mad momma cow, then they have to mug her. Yes they have to grab her and use their weight to make her stand still so one guy can get some milk in a bottle and run it back to the judge. Fastest time wins.
These boys busted their butts and made it to the finals Saturday night, unfortunately they had some tough luck and placed 5th.
Hope you enjoyed these pictures from a fun family filled Saturday. And I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all of these guys that get up day after day and check cattle, horses, and the land that supply so much of the food that we have the luxury of indulging in every day.
